Shoe woes

My shoe squeaks. It makes a squeaky whine when I walk down the hallway and it's driving me nuts.

Two weeks ago, I decided to get a new pair of sandals. I found one at the mall that looks sturdy (solid enough for me to run around even in the container yard) yet sexy (well, it must elongate my legs) enough for daily use. While it's quite pricey, it's solidly built and most importantly, it doesn't wobble when I walked in it.

I wore it to work the next day. It didn't squeak or squeal but by mid-morning, my poor feet hurt. The very same sandal that made me look glamorous has become the bane of my existence. Well, that new pair of heels is now languishing in my shoe cupboard.

I went out to look for another one the next day, setting more realistic goals this time. After scouring through the massive shoe department, I finally settled for one that's more comfortable than sexy. It's from the comfy shoe section (a fav with senior citizens) by the way.

I wore this comfy pair of shoes for three days and then it started to squeal. The left heel let out a loud squeal each time it hits the floor. My colleague asked if I had injured my foot over the weekend. Someone thought I was limping. The annoying sound was drawing unwanted attention to my legs.

Today, I'm back to wearing my favourite old squeaky sandals again though I have a whole cupboard full of shoes. Why is it so difficult to find a good pair of shoes I wonder? They're either too flimsy or momsy. Too high or too flat. Come to think of it, finding a good pair of shoes is like choosing the right man, you won't know you've found the right one until you've walked for miles in it.

Oh well, the search is not over.

I have to agree with you that new shoes are sometimes more trouble than the old comfy one.

I've been using mine for as long as I can remember and though it's really weathered but it's just so comfortable.

And speaking of shoes, I need a new pair of running shoes. The only thing is I hate to have to break in a new pair of running shoes!

sneakers are the only things that seem to work...but too casual i guess... LOL

For me shoes must be comfortable. They don't have to look really nice. Comfort comes first.

I don't have the luxury of wearing sandals to work. But my current pair of sandals from hush puppies are comfy enough for me :-)

Hee hee, I can so relate to this post. I wear reasonanly high heels to work because I sit down all day. They look good, but they are not comfortable for the first month I wear them, but after that they are fine. I do tend to kick them off under my desk though :-)

haha... your post reminds me an incident happened a few weeks ago. I was in S'pore to attend a wedding but forgot to bring my formal shoes. So I set out to shoes shopping, something I thought would be soooo easy - afterall I was in S'pore - the shopping paradise! Saddly, after almost the whole day was gone, I could not find something that I really like. At the end, I picked up the phone and called hubby, caught him just about to leave for airport (going to S'pore) and asked him to bring my fav old shoes......ckl

CH - Thanks for the recommendation but you can wear all the weird shoes yourself! :-)

Ah Nick, the trouble with lady's working shoes is they don't last that long, well, they don't look so trendy after a while. But, for other shoes like my hiking boots, I simply can't bear to throw them away. It's like the older, the better.

Hey, check out Adidas running shoes. I bought the Supernova and didn't need any breaking in at all. The new generation Adidas running shoes are really made for running!

JY - Yah, I love how some people just look so cool in sneakers with everything, from skirts to pants.

I prefer something with a bit of heel...

Water - I had Hush Puppies before and they were really comfy. I'm quite fussy when it comes to design. I can see a thousand pairs before I finally settle for one!

Fish - Wow, you can withstand the pain for a month! I love high heels too but I'm bigger built and heavier, they really put a strain on my feet.

Hi CKL - Oh, I totally agree with you. I find it so hard to get a pair of shoes that I like too. I'm often amazed at how people can walk into a shoe shop and come out with so many pairs of shoes!

I laughed at your comment about men being like shoes. Very true!

I hate buying new shoes because so ften they seem great, but after a day walking... :-(

Isn't it so true Michelle? So many men look great at first, after walking miles with them, they start to whine or fall apart :-)
