Dinner & Dessert

Some time ago, my sis-in-law told me about a Korean restaurant in Bukit Timah that serves a 'huge' amount of appetisers. So when I was craving for Korean food last Friday, I knew exactly where to go. Well, not exactly because I vaguely knew it was opposite Beauty World Shopping Centre. We only managed to find it at 17 Lorong Kilat after making some wrong turns.

The restaurant owner Kim has excellent business strategy. First of all, by naming the restaurant Kim's Family Food, one would expect home cooked food which is exactly what they serve here. Secondly, they are so generous with their side dishes, 12 in all, diners feel happy to come back again and again. The place was packed with regulars that night.

We ordered a bottle of chilled soju to share.

The menu is quite extensive for a family restaurant. We ordered beef bulgogi which arrived on a sizzling hot plate. The portion is generous but the meat dried up too quickly. I wish they were smoother and more tender.

The seafood stew was chockful of flower crab, clams, shrimp, octopus and bean vermicelli. The soup was very flavourful with a tinge of spiciness.

After dinner, we wandered next door to Udders for 'adult' ice cream. Here, many of the ice cream flavours are liquor based.

The Bailey’s & Bourbon was rather intoxicating while the Hazel's Nuts flavour was intense and rich. The ice cream was doused with a shot of Tia Maria (extra cost) for that extra oomph!
