Sk turns 17!

In the blink of an eye, my younger son turns 17 today. I still find it hard to believe how a tiny 2.8kg baby can grow so quickly into a well-built man. Where did all those years go?

As a child, he loved to romp around with a net and bucket, catching small fishes or crayfishes from reservoirs and river banks. He has a knack for spotting tiny insects or creatures hiding in crevices and would catch and observe before releasing them back to nature.

Even at a young age, he was able to set up tanks and scape his own terrariums. There were always several of varying sizes around the house. He still has them but they are alot more sophisticated now. He calls them vivarium. Using tools and building materials, he creates his own backdrop, waterfall and landscape from scratch. He wants to be an entomologist when he grows up and I've encouraged him because his knowledge in plants and insects impresses me a great deal.

He's also an artist who excels in pencil drawings. He draws in such detail that I wonder where his talent comes from, certainly not from me. So he must have inherited his father's talent but otherwise, he is quite like me. He watches his diet and runs to keep fit. His only weakness is Coke!

Growing up, he was the untidy one. His school bag used to be filled with crushed papers and torn books, it drove me up the wall. All that changed when he became older. Today his room is the tidiest at home. All the clothes in his wardrobe are neatly arranged and his desk is always well organised and clean. I can rely on him to wash the dishes or clean up after cooking.

The best thing is, he's polite, considerate, compassionate and such an animal lover. I feel proud to have raised him up properly.

He loves my carrot cake but I have no time to bake him one today, so I'll buy a Black Forest cake on the way home. I'm also treating him (and us) to chilli crab for dinner. I can't bear to cook the crabs (I mean kill them) myself , so I'll get the deliciously cooked ones from Seafood Paradise.

Happy birthday SK!

This photo was taken a week ago at a dinner. I have too few photos of him.

Here he is, with Rusty who is also a September baby!

Fry - I have both their photos in my wallet! Fair mother. Funny though, I buy everything in twos, from fruits to food.

OKC - Thanks. I think it's largely his character. And the dress was purchased about 2 years ago for a wedding but I only wore it for the first time last week!
