An ordinary day

Valentine's Day has come and gone without enriching our lives in any way. We have agreed some years back (can't remember when) that we will not celebrate like the millions of couples around the world on this over-rated day. So, I went to bed really early at around 8pm, when all the restaurants were filled with starry-eyed couples, feeling like a sad puppy. Yah, I shoudn't be feeling this way but I did.

To add to the misery, Rusty threw up twice on the shaggy rug early this morning. He ate something that didn't agree with his tummy. After he got it all out, he was happily wolfing down his breakfast and begging for his walk.

Yesterday YK asked, "Aren't you celebrating Valentine's Day with CH?" I said no and that was it. He then went on to bake a gorgeous fruit tart for his friend's birthday today. After he was done with assembling the tart, he said, "There's still plenty of custard in the fridge, maybe you can make yourself something?"

Sounds tempting but I guess not. I'm taking a break from carbs this week. But if he makes me a cake, I will eat it!

He he he...we don't celebrate Valentine's Day specifically, either. I was never born in the era when Valentine's Day was commercialized and in Finland it's called "Ystävänpäivä" or Friendship Day, so it becomes weird to think of Valentine's Day as a day for lovers...

No V-day celebration for me too. It's a commercialize event to profit the florists and restaurants only! Although Hub did bring me to a nice dinner on the weekend before the V-day lah. Heh... Anyway, the fruit tart looks sooo delicious!

Oh I never did celebrate Valentine's day with The Husband. I don't know why we don't but I never thought it was anything worthwhile to celebrate. But I love receiving flowers and I think that girls should get flowers more - would be good to receive any other day when flowers aren't exorbitant though :)

We kind of did do V Day when we were newly married... but the kids arrived and one day, we were short of a baby sitter and had to do V Day with Baby and Daughter in tow. Daughter was 8 and enjoyed herself so much at the French Restaurant that she declared "V Day is a lovely day, we should do this every year".... and so that was that, we did V Day with the family instead... This year, everyone was busy so, no V Day.
