Weekend with the boys

My sons may not be sportsmen or scholars but they've been brought up to love nature. When they were little, our idea of outings meant going to the farm, beach or park. Growing up, they were always growing, breeding or keeping something, from spiders and butterflies to fish and plants.

Now that YK's exams are over and SK has developed an interest in photography, we have been spending our weekends in the nature reserve.

Last saturday, we took a ferry to Pulau Ubin and spent hours walking in the rustic island. Somehow, they have a knack for spotting bugs and critters. Here are some interesting ones shot by SK.

By the time we walked to Chek Jawa, we were hot, tired and hungry until this old quarry came into view. The turquoise blue water shimmering under the hot sun was quite a mesmerising sight.

The next day, we were in the forest again, this time at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, one of our favourite hangouts.
