So, how did the date go? Well, I showed up a little late because I had to send the rug to the dry cleaners. There he was, seated by the exact same window, waiting patiently for me.
He took the trouble to wear the same outfit - white polo tee paired with khaki bermudas - which fitted him perfectly like four years ago. I tried my best to pull together the same look as before but my green skirt is at my parent's. I remember how I used to dress up for our dates, so I brushed my hair and chose a necklace to contrast nicely against my black tee.
We pretended we were meeting for the first time and smiled politely. The moment I sat down, I couldn't pretend anymore. We were back to our old selves. He spotted some of Rusty's fur on my shirt. But of course, I had just dragged the shaggy rug to the cleaners. It must be so filthy by now with Rusty's fur, dust, hair and now, salt water.
I was hungry after a maniac morning. We ordered sandwiches and then I started talking about how I spent the morning mopping water that had escaped from YK's marine tank. It's funny when I think about it now.
Four years ago, I was sitting on the same spot telling him about how I was running away from the park rangers. SK and I were catching little fishes along the reservoir bank when the park rangers spotted us. Clutching our bucket and fish net, we scrambled to the car and made a fast escape.
And here I was, sharing silly stories four years later, to his amusement. With a life like mine, it is no surprise I'll still be up to something ludicrous 10 years from now. Maybe older and slower, but still 'blur'.
After lunch, coffee and cheesecake, we had to get back to work. While it was a short lunch date, I must say it was really fun. We should do this more often but then again it would take away the novelty. Maybe next year.

How wonderfully sweet! It's nice to pause for a moment to reminisce about our first dates. Thinking about them is enough to chase the blues away!
Especially with dog hair, dirt and sweat!
You're lively and fun to be with. CH is lucky to have you.
