Midlife crisis

How quickly time flies. It's Friday already and today's rather special because we're celebrating CH's birthday.

We used to take the day off in the past to spend time together but I didn't plan anything this year. Sad to say, my friend was right when she said, "When XX and I were still dating, we traveled the world together. After marriage, we only go on supermarket dates."

I'm not sure about the birthday boy but I have a valid excuse. My colleague is on leave, so I can't go gallivanting around when there is work to be done.

Work is kind of humming along slowly. Maybe too slowly. Best friend called me up yesterday sounding rather exasperated, "I woke up at 2am last night and realised that I need to do something with my life. We need to sit down and brainstorm for new ideas that will help us make money more easily. I don't want to be stuck in this job for the rest of my life!"

"But...but...your job pays you so well!" I exclaimed.

Of course I don't understand anything about office politics and all that, but I put it down to a serious case of mid-life crisis. While I don't have sleepless nights like her, I'm keen on exploring new ventures. The world is changing so quickly, surely we must move with the times. Teenage girls are making millions selling clothes on their blogs, we don't want to be left behind.

So, the date has been set. If you happen to stumble upon two middle aged women whiling away time in a secret cafe tucked away in the woods on a weekday afternoon... please leave us alone. We're not idling, we're brainstorming.

It is uncanny the way my life parallels yours!! I just had lunch with a friend and we talked about HER job too... and MY non-job... and how unhappy we both are.

And I was gonna post on this TOMORROW!!

oh.. the life is greener on the other side isn't it? When I wasn't working I used to think I need to work and make some money. When I am working, I start to think oh.. heck the money, I should just enjoy life. I guess at the end of the day, our life is what it is now and it is best for us to enjoy the now rather than the to-be. Easier said than done though.

Rojuken - Thanks for reading my blog for so long (and forever!). Hehe, I am just so spontaneous like that. May or may not be a good thing :-)

Luckily I have a good heart and understanding friends (esp CH).

He he he...It's the other way around for me actually: when R2 and I were "dating", we could only chat (no webcam 'coz at that time my internet connection was so slow as we were still using good old slow modem at 56 Kbps).

Now after marriage I can travel the world with him...as long as we have the money to go somewhere, we'll go somewhere...but then again even staying home together is already such a nice treat considering the time we spent apart from each other was like hell!!!
