All that fuss

Just when I thought Ting had forgotten about the terrapins, I received a call yesterday. "Can you bring the terrapins here...now?"

"Nooo. I am at the office, the terrapins are at home and you're all the way across the island!"

"How about tomorrow?", she asked politely.

I couldn't promise so she extended the deadline to Friday. Then her mum called. "I heard you're coming on Friday? Ting wants me and her daddy to be around to welcome her terrapins."

Gosh, all that fuss over two tiny reptiles!

I brought the terrapins, tank and all, over to my parent's house this morning. Mum looked at me disapprovingly, "Why did you buy them live animals?"

Ting was estatic while her lil sister was super curious. They spent all morning peering into the box and bickering amongst themselves.

"Mei Mei, stop shaking the box! Keep your hands off the cover! Mine is bigger. The small one with the black tummy is yours."

Soon little Mei Mei came to me, all teary, "Cheh Cheh keeps scolding me."

Grandma got fed-up and threatened to give the terrapins away. "If you girls don't stop all this nonsense, I'll ask Koo Koo (me) to bring them back!"

Sorry, I'm not taking them home. Then I hurried off to work.

You must be a favourite koo koo for the little ones. You absolutely spoil them!!

Water - I'm their only koo koo. A couple of weeks ago, Ting said, "I like this koo koo. She's so nice. My friend's koo koo is very fierce."

Well if you have to be their "koo koo" then it's best you be a nice one! LOL!

;-) I believe so too. I absolutely dote on my two little nephews although they are not that little anymore. The younger one is already Pri 2 this year!

Last week, he suddenly decided that he was getting older and did not want the task of kissing everyone after the Friday Dinner Family Gatherings. He said that he would kissed only until he reached Pri 6, after much "negotiation".

On Sat, I called his home while he was watching TV, citing that I had something to discuss with him. "What leh, Goo Goo?", he asked curiously. I then told him that after hearing that he would stop kissing me goodbye when he reached Pri 6, I got very sad.

"In fact, Goo Goo got so sad that she could not sleep last night.", I said in a pathetic manner.

"Huh?", Bruce answered. He has a soft heart, you see.

I then said,"So I think I have to call you now to discuss seriously about this. In case I can't sleep again tonight. 'Cos I think this is too sad for me to handle. Do you think you give work on some extension?"

Bruce paused for a very short while and quickly said,"ok lor. Until Sec 2 lor!".

JY - That's the thing. You aren't suppose to spoil your own kids but nobody says you can't spoil your nieces and nephews!

Water - Oh dear. Boys are like that. They feel shy and awkward as they grow. My sons had the same problem with their koo koo. She got so sad when they resisted her hugs and kisses once they got older.

You are such a nice Auntie.. :) I'm practically heartless.. When my nephew threw a tantrum at my place the last time (a big time tantrum), I told my sister and nephew it was time for them to go home IMMEDIATELY.. :P "You can't throw tantrums at Ah-yi's place." My sister was really mad at me.. but then after that, they never had any problems with tantrums at my place. I think my nephew got the message.. :P

Petunia - Yes, she has good manners, it is hard to turn her down.

OKC - Actually I am not so nice when they throw tantrums. Ting doesn't do it anymore cos she's already 5 but the younger one still does.
