The restaurant is the old fashioned kind with marble tables and colourful glass windows.
Colourful dress to match the colourful windows.
Here is a peek at the interior of the restaurant.
The walls are filled with faded photos and press cuttings.
There was a long queue outside the restaurant and we had to wait for about 30 minutes before we were ushered to a table by the window. Can you see the retro looking radio behind me?
We wasted no time in ordering a spread of food. First to arrive was their signature swiss roll with kaya filling. It was tender and fragrant.
Yut Kee's kaya is quite legendary. The texture is coarse and lumpy. I was quite tempted to buy a few jars back but the thought of lugging them home made me change my mind.
The Hainanese pork chop is the best we had eaten. The meat was tender and thick, and the gravy delicious.
The Char Siew rice was a hit with all my friends. They liked it so much, they were still talking about it the next day.
This is the famous Roti Babi - a sandwich omelette.
When you break open the parcel, you'll find shredded pork and onion encased in egg and bread. It was really yummy.
The pork porridge was passable, not my favourite. The porride in KL is the grainy sort unlike the smooth congee served in Hong Kong and Singapore.
After brunch, we headed to Sunway Lagoon Pyramid for an afternoon of shopping.
Sunway Lagoon Theme Park is an award-winning tourist landmark offering 70 attractions across five different theme parks. Unfortunately we didn't venture into the park as we were in the mall all day.
We had lunch at the foodcourt, in a cafe called RM Cafe.
The mango salad was quite nice as an appetizer.
I had chendol, Malaysia's famous dessert drink.
The local delicacies were not disappointing.
Spicy laksa.
Seafood hor fun.
Pineapple rice.
Our friend drove us to the suburbs for a sumptuous seafood dinner at Dragon Star Restaurant in Kampung Tunku, Petaling Jaya. This is one of her favourite restaurants and after tasting, we could understand why.
The crab dishes here are to die for, so we order 3kg of crab cooked two ways. The cream sauce version is rich and unique. Very tasty.
Most of my friends like the crabs cooked in salted egg yolk better.
The tofu with minced pork was a hit too.
The pork ribs were a bit too tough.
This is a kind of leek which was simply cooked but delicious nonetheless.
It was rather strange eating the fried spring chicken pieces. They looked so small, they might be pigeons.
After dinner, we headed to Kayu Nasi Kandar for a nightcap.
According to my friend, the ice Milo is rich and chocolately, and we had to try some. I can't tell you if it's nice or not as I had Teh Tarik (hot tea).
We also ordered the tallest tissue prata we had ever encountered.
It was delicious but a tad too oily. Still, it was a novelty to have tasted it!
