Simplify my life

Through my blog, I can say so many things that I want to say within minutes. I'm not the kind who likes talking alot, nor am I the type who is constantly on the phone. I'm not even on MSN. Don't be too appalled if I tell you that I only speak to CH once every week, during our friday outings. Sometimes the less talk, the better. Let's hope he doesn't forget my existence.

Perhaps that's why my blog serves as a good communication tool. I sit at my desk and express everything I feel strongly about within less than 30 minutes without anyone interrupting or cutting me off. After I've said my piece, I go on and do other things.

It's also good that my kids read my blog. It helps them understand their mother better. That day, YK came to me. "Mummy, actually your life is quite hard right? You work, do housework, take care of us and Rusty... and you spend so much time in the kitchen."

"How about this? On some days, like 3x a week, we just have simple pasta dinner or one-pot meals instead of the whole works. Then you don't have to cook and clean up so much. Good idea right?"

I'm sure that bright idea came after he read my blog. But since that day, we have been having simpler dinners. One night, I made a big pot of potato/minced meat/mushroom/mixed vegetable stew and served it with white rice. It was simple but very yummy. Even Rusty had the same thing for dinner and licked his plate clean like the rest of us.

So, we're veering towards thematic meals again like what I had always wanted. Korean hot-pot or grilled chicken with roasted potatoes, you get the idea?

Ever since I introduced the good old sardine sandwich to YK, we've gone through 7 tins of sardines in 3 days. He loved it so much, I've seen him cook it for breakfast, lunch and mid-night snack. YK's like that. If he likes something, he'll eat it everyday until he can no longer stand it. I think that day is coming soon.

Anyway, my life is getting better. The washing machine has been fixed and our meals are getting simpler. I can go to bed earlier or take longer walks with Rusty.

Your kids are so thoughtful... it is good they take the time to read your blog... you don't need to worry about them at all...they'll make strong sturdy adults!

Kaye - Thanks for the suggestion. I do that sometimes too. When I was away for 1 week, I made and packed many boxes of that in the fridge. the kids had the same thing for lunch and dinner many days!

agree! juggling so many roles, it's good to reduce the burden sometimes. we're only human, even over-worked robots will break down too. hehehe......

Yes to simplified meals --when eating in one's home and esp when one has to do the prep, cook, serve and clean...!

As for u and CH-- reminds of someone who once said "I've other ways of communicating with u than words". Cute hah?

Have a divine week-end!

GREAT to hear!!! Actually I think I'm having the same "symptom" now. I'm getting more and more reluctant to speak as opposed to writing. I find that it's nicer to write something and then send the link and let people read it ha ha ha ha ha...

Am I becoming more and more of a hermit? Hmmmhhh...

Simplifying life is good! :-D
