Meet Harry the Hairless

My niece named the Japanese spitz Harry because of his striking white mane.

When I took him home after his haircut, everyone thought I brought home a new dog. Indeed Harry looks like a completley different dog without all that fur. Even Bodhi had trouble recognising (and respecting) him.

I feel a little sorry for him now but I have to convince myself that this drastic measure is necessary before his skin problem worsens. I'm stumped when my nieces ask when his fur will become luscious and beautiful again.

Look at him now. He looks like a big chihuahua.

I use to do the same to my poodle in summers - that's the trouble with longhair dogs.

actually i think that he looks a lot nicer without the fur! you ought to keep it short all the time. specially as dogs suffer with all the fur in the tropical heat!

RM - Hehe, I love the word woebegone :-)

JY - He felt so naked, he kinda looked embarrased when I picked him.

OKC - Cute but definitely no longer handsome!

Amel - When his skin condition gets better (he has eczema), I will let him his fur.

CKL - I know! I feel uncomfortable seeing him with all that fur in such hot weather.

Malar - It's hard to keep clean at the farm, so that was a practical move.

World - I never knew that until he had his haircut. It's pretty much like us too! Now I know dogs have bad hair days too.

Patricia - I agree. These furry dogs really suffer in our tropical climate.
