Self conscious

We women are often too self conscious for our own good. One friend laments about her stubby legs while another wishes for a higher nose bridge.

One has soft brown hair that's so shiny and healthy, I have to resist the urge to run my fingers through her tresses. And she has the most cheeky yet endearing grin, she can get away with any mischief. It helps that she has a glowing complexion that makes her look half her age.

She's so charming, smart and eloquent, and blessed with a pretty face, would I look at her legs? Of course, now that she had brought it up, I had to sneak a peek. They are anything but stubby.

The other lady probably isn't aware how attractive she is. We met one Saturday afternoon at a carnival. It was a hot sunny day, her face's so pretty and blushing pink, I couldn't help gushing "OMG! She's so radiant, she glows!"

I get charmed when she breaks easily into the sweetest smile. Her doe eyes, framed by long dark lashes are indeed mesmerising. Did I notice her nose? Not at all.

Listen up ladies, we all come as a package. It may be that special grin or a sweet smile that catches people's eye. Don't be too conscious about the little imperfections, nobody notices but you.

Yes, I am guilty of talking endlessly about my expanding waistline. If I keep quiet, nobody will ever notice. I'm shutting up now.

He he he he he...I find that in this digital era where everything can be "altered" so easily, it gets harder and harder to embrace reality 'coz you're feeding yourself with "fake" realities.

I also think in Asia people are more "critical" toward other people's appearances (or anything else for that matter). Here in this Western world, people don't really care too much about other people's "business". At least in Asia this question is a common theme, "But what would THEY say?"

So I agree with what you say...let's embrace ourselves just the way we are! :-D

Everyday, I look in the mirror... suck in the tum tum and use my palm to help press it in too. Invariably, it bounces right out like jelly. Now, if only the boobies would behave like the belly, that would be a very good thing...

Haha. Tell you a story Ting. 2 years ago, my very own mother, asked me whether I wana a nose job as a wedding gift?!?!?! SHE WAS DEAD SERIOUS. I was like "WHAT?!?! why didn't you make the offer when I was 18 yrs old or something, and then I could have been Miss Universe or maybe the next Fann Wong?! Why the offer when I'm about to get married and nearing 30?! WASTE MONEY loh" ;) Anyway, thanks for the compliments and will def stop complaining abt my nose. HAHA.

Malar - Don't we all? But we must face up to reality. We must let nature do the job, that is, pad our body with more fat tissues as we age :-)

Fry - Haha, we don't worry if ants will grow fur. We worry if we will lose our eye lashes or not :-)

Amel - The youngsters grow up exposed to media showing fashion, models, cosmetics etc... it will only get worse.

OKC - I choose to listen to my mum. She tells me women look better with a bit of curves, expecially as we age. So embrace the curves!

Petunia - Haha! This has to do with gravity. Maybe you can learn to walk upside down, then all the jelly will migrate to the boobs.

Wen-ai - LOL! You must have fretted about it all the time. Mum can read your mind you know? I used to fret about the same thing because spectacles tend to slip down my face too easily. :-)
