I look in the mirror, my body's getting curvier, what my mum would call womanly. I quite like what I see and no longer long to be skinny, which has been a difficult feat for a big-boned woman like me. I can't believe it took me so long to come to terms with my curves.
I've also taken a liking to the natural wavy hair framing my face now. I don't think I would like to undergo any more treatments to make my hair straight, sleek and shiny. Why subject myself to harmful chemicals just to look like someone else? Mum always says that your natural hair is a vital part of your personality. How wise she is.
The lines on my face don't bother me so much now. When I see the crinkles, laugh lines and crows feet etched on my face, they only remind me of how much I have laughed all these years. It means I have led a joyful existence.
I used to look at the freckles on my face with disdain. Now they bring back memories of glorious days under the sun - beach holidays, biking vacations, sun-bathing, working out in the garden, running marathons and sunshine on my skin.
So we know aging is inevitable but growing old gracefully is definitely much better. By staying healthy and keeping a positive outlook on life, one will radiate beauty and charm even in our old age.

*WIDE GRIN*
LOVE this post!!! HURRAYYYY to embracing ourselves just as we are. :-D
You mean you have natural curls? That's something nice to have. You're a beautiful person, inside and out... and people like that become more beautiful with age. Check my blog for a poem you'll love.
Fry - You will understand when you reach my age.
Amel - Better to embrace it than fight against it. It's a losing battle!
