Babysitting

I'm babysitting my god daughter today and we're at the office. Looking after her makes me realise I have forgotten how energetic little kids are. While she's an independent kid, one who will play by herself, I have to constantly find things for her to do. It has only been an hour and I'm running out of ideas. I should have brought Rusty along to play with her.

While having breakfast, she spotted a jar of raisins on my desk, so she had some of that. I printed out a dinosaur colouring sheet which doesn't seem to interest her very much. She's more keen on opening and closing the box of colour pencils. Now she's playing with my camera. Maybe she should take a nap...

Ya, no joke... I also ran out of ideas to entertain Claire... But i think the best is let them played outdoors!!

They love that very much! Must admit, Rusty will have a ball of time playing with her too!

Psst, Claire loves to touch animals ever since she has sayang Rusty.

Kaye - I agree. Let them run freely in the park until they get tired. I used to do that when my kids were young.

So nice to know that Claire is not afraid of animals! Must let her see Rusty again.

So cute!! How about mixing up a whole lot of stationery and asking her to help sort them out? I used to get Christopher to separate red beans and green beans... or I would dot a whole piece of paper and get him to connect the dots... and I even tore paper up and asked him to help pick the scraps up one by one. That wasn't very effective though. Because he quickly figured out how to sweep them in a pile and dump the pile into the bin. There Mommy, I'm done. In 2 minutes.

Petunia - haha, it probably takes you longer to tear things up than for him to fix!

Baby sitting is a lot more pleasurable and sunny an exercise compared to adult-sitting, esp if the adults are deeply into their 3rd age... caring for babies gives a glimpse of our past whereas adults who need to be looked after forewarn of a future that might not be entirely of our own choosing... and that's the frightening bit!
