When I read about this Singaporean granny who completed the world's longest foot trail at the age of 55, all I want to do is follow her foot steps.
Amy Lam is the first Singaporean to hike the United States' 3,500km Appalachian Trail. She set off on April 30, 2005, starting in Georgia's Springer Mountain before winding her way through six national parks, eight national forests and touching on 14 states.
It took her 127 gruelling days, 5 million steps and one heck of an attitute. This granny rocks!

When I grow up, I want to be a cushion. A cushion that moves. *Another vanity project brought to you by Blur Ting*

Hey Ting,
When we are old, maybe we can do the same .. together?
Yes! I'm planning to do this too. If I grumble and nag at you, just throw a rock (small one please) at me!
Okie. Looking at how many marathons under your belt, most likely you would be the one throwing pebbles at me :-)
WOW...applause for her :D
Whoa, that's one cool granny. I hope to be a grandpa that rocks one fine day too ... :D
Hi!! What a nice story :) Thanks for sharing. I must admit that when I read it I was thinking that 55...well, it is not that old...maybe because with the product I work with those are the youngest applicants...for me someone very old is about 80 or 90...but then again, to do that when you are 55...it musn't be easy, so an applause for the granny :)
Have a lovely day!
WOW...that's AMAZING indeed!!! I remember my Mom saying that her energy depleted once she reached the age of 50.
She is super granny!
Sounded like a real adventure!
What a great story. I followed your link and read the full story and am now really inspired.
The 2650-mile Pacific Crest Trail (from Maxico border to north of Washington) passed through here. If I have 6 mths off, I may want to do that one day. (Usually people start in April down in the border and finish in end Sept)
That's really inspiring!! I'm not that far away from 55 ;-)
The granny's holding a talk at the Nature Society (Singapore) this Friday. We might go listen, then Blur can meet her heroine in person!
Yup Yup! I'm gonna meet her! Water, you wanna go? 7.30pm at 510 Geylang Road.
Oops, the talk was last Friday 23 Jan. Missed it. What a shame!
