Hospital visit

I visited my friend Yvonne at the hospital yesterday. Apparently she suffered from a seizure while she was asleep last Thursday night. The good news is, she was sleeping with her mum. Until now, she's still marveling at how lucky she was that night. In the first place, her mum, who works in England, happened to be back in Singapore. Secondly, she hardly sleeps with her mum. So, it was clearly a stroke of luck that her mum was beside her that night.

Yvonne turned blue and was unconscious the night she was sent into ICU where she was hooked up to all kinds of life saving equipment. When I called her on Friday night (when she didn't turn up for our dinner appointment), she was still disoriented and couldn't recall anything. At that time, she was just transfered out of ICU into the normal ward.

She looked much better yesterday and was very cheerful though she had just endured a painful angiogram (where a catheter was inserted into a peripheral artery) minutes before. She's a brave girl! An MRI scan showed that some blood vessels have burst in her brain, resulting in cerebral haemorrhage which is a life threatening emergency. Without prompt medical treatment, death may result. She's lucky to be alive and does not appear to suffer from any damage.

She's a young and gorgeous 30-year-old with a whole life ahead of her. Maybe her lifestyle is too hectic. She's a fun-loving and vivacious girl who is always working, networking and socialising. Can you believe she was fretting about work yesterday? I seriously think it's time for her to slow down. Work is not everything. Get well soon, dear Yvonne!

Wow. Fate really smiled on her that day. A string of coincidences ended up saving her that night.

All the best and a speedy recovery to her. :)

Yah, lucky that it was her mom sleeping next to her and not anyone else. You know how many people can sleep like a log at night. Her boyfriend was joking how frightening it is to wake up next to a cold stiffened up body in the morning. We were all laughing away. That's how crazy Yvonne is!

I hope she gets well soon. 30 years old only? Wow, I've got to start slowing down my pace somewhat.

I'm SORRY to hear about that. It's really crazy that she's that young and yet such a thing happened. Gladly she wasn't alone when that happened!!! Phew!!!

Sorry to hear about your friend. Must have been a very scary experience.
I'm sure she's thanking her lucky stars that her mother was with her.
I wish her well.

Oh dear!
This is scary stuff.
I saw a medical progam on this before. Doctors in the US belive that it's genetic.
PS: I think I met her before at your place... one dinner with you, CH, CH's colleague, her, myself I think.

Thanks everyone. CH went to visit her yesterday and she seems fine. The only trouble is from here on, she has to be very vigilant about her diet and lifestyle.

Mother Hen- Yes, you have met her at the farewell party that we threw for you before you left for the US. BTW, I read in the papers about the really bad weather in Oregon. Hope it is not affecting you too badly.
