Happy!

I've pretty much accomplished what I had set out to do this afternoon. I've strolled through Botanic Gardens in the light rain. It was a most pleasant walk.

Well, it would have been better if not for my tight-fitting ballet flats.

By the time I got to Borders at Wheelock Place, I was practically hobbling. The sight of thousands of books at heavily marked down prices (75% off) took my mind off the painful blisters immediately. "How to Cheat at Gardening and Yard Work" was a steal at $9.74 instead of $38.95.

I picked up the latest issue of Burke's Backyard magazine from Australia because the photographer had expressed interest in shooting my patio garden if they're here in July. The trip is not confirmed yet but it's good to learn more about them.

"Appetite Recipe Annual 2010" has some interesting recipes (chillied lemongrass and seafood paella, tom yam bouillabaisse, oxtail stew with barley and root vegetables, crispy pork with roasted garlic and apples, baked curry-dusted chicken etc) that I would be keen to try. It's only $6. No discount for this one.

By the time I was done with Borders, I wasn't too keen on limping around looking for gourmet food. On the way down to the basement carpark, I was surprised to see the new Ion Orchard before my eyes.

An entire wall at the basement of Wheelock Place had been hacked away so that shoppers can walk right into Ion Orchard. The seamless connection made it so easy for me to wander in and see what the hype is all about. Maybe I was starving by then, I only checked out the food marts and ended up buying a bunch of Japanese snacks.

It was also impossible for me to ignore the sight of freshly baked goodies and delicious smells wafting out of Bread Society. Everything in there was so irrestible, I bought an almond croissant for myself as well as some colourful fruit tarts for the kids.

I'm home now, drinking coffee and eating croissant. It has been a lovely afternoon indeed.

JY - I had a great day!!

Auntie Lucia - I don't like going to town very much, that's why I usually hang around the fringe of Orchard Road. If I do go back to Ion again, I shall make it a point to explore more.

MH - Yup, somehow their pastries look really attractive compared to other shops.

Water - It's actually my regular size but for this cutting, I should have gotten the next bigger size. Martina Pink shoes are very comfy and cute! They're built to last too.
