What am I saying?

Several bloggers I know have gone private. Not surprising really.

Having a public blog is like running a public listed company. You have to be transparent and be willing to disclose your business operations, warts and all, for your shareholders to see. It always starts out as a great idea, to have many interested supporters watching your every move. The more the merrier. You're enjoying the limelight.

But you can't choose your shareholders. Anyone who has the means can own part of your company. You start to feel stifled, sometimes to the extent of feeling violated, you begin to watch what you say or do. Then you wonder why you started the business in the first place. You lose the passion and the fire that was once burning inside. You straddle between two worlds, your own and the one others like to see.

Now don't go thinking that I have lost the passion for blogging. I am just echoing the thoughts of some bloggers who may be in that position.

Every blogger starts with a different purpose. Some use their blog to vent, others to educate. Some remain incognito while some use it as a platform to showcase their life. Many do not quite know how their blog will turn out in the end.

I started out to keep my friends updated on what's going on in my life, which is nothing spectacular. On some days, I talk about friends and family. There are days when I can't stop whining or flaunting my insecurities. I try not to hide my feelings.I speak my mind but I stay within the boundaries knowing that I have some young readers who follow my blog faithfully.

What am I trying to say? I don't even know. Anyway, thanks for reading my blog, even on days when I'm rambling senselessly.

Mine started out as a fun experiment which turned into passion and also to earn a little extra on the side.

I've never considered going private with it and don't think I would. I say what I want to say in my blog (of cos minus the profanities and such) and I've no issues about what I share with people out there ...

But that said and done, I do remain as anonymous online as much as I can but I've made so many good friends that I think it's worth spilling out my life for the world to see :D

It's a pleasure reading your blog.

Mine started as a bit of fun and a way to keep in touch with my friends. Especially the friends who have moved out of my home town and have families of their own now. However, despite emailing the link to my friends, other than one loyal friend, my comments and readers are mainly people I have never met before from all sorts of interesting places in this world.
Not that I'm complaining at all! I love interacting with people world-wide! I just didn't expect this outcome!
