Dining alone

It's dark and raining outside and I'm eating alone. Now I understand why mum always sound a little sad whenever I called to say I wasn't coming home for dinner. Being so used to eating with the family, it just feels weird having dinner alone.

The noodles and soup have already been cooked. CH announced that he had to take some guests out for dinner tonight. Alright, the fish shall stay in the freezer.

Just as I was about to crack some eggs, YK texted to say he's eating out. No point making an omelette if he's also not eating. The eggs and ingredients go back into the fridge.

Then SK texted to say that he'll be late, I should save him some food. That's it, I'm not cooking anything else!

After feeding Rusty, I sat down to eat my own simple dinner.

Noodles with grilled chicken drumlets.

Clear vegetable soup.

I can't wait for the kids to be home as I've bought their favourite cakes - strawberry cheesecake, blueberry cheesecake, tiramisu and black forest gateau.

Since we can't have dinner together, we'll eat dessert together!

Yes, we did. We ate all the 4 pcs of cakes at one go :-)

That clear soup is comfort food personified. Just hope that all those floating fat/oil/butter/goodness reaches the right places in the anatomy ;)

Ash - Haha, that's stock made from chicken. I skimmed the oil away before drinking. :-)

Oh dear!... I can understand. It's really weird feeling when all of sudden the house is empty!
Hope you had good dessert time with your boys!

What a damm shame :(
In a world filled with bony lady GaGa's, we could have done with a few more ounces of eye candy :)

malar - Your kids are still small and they fill the home with noise. The noise will diminish as they grow older. So, enjoy it now!

Ash - Did you see the amount of cheesecake I ate? I'm no where near bony!

For me, I like the occasional eating alone experience, whether at home or outside, but especially at home.
