The Eve

It's the eve of the Chinese New Year. We're not working today and the kids are celebrating in school. SK finishes at 10.30am and we'll be going to Borders to get some books before heading to the fish farm to look at fishes. Then it's time to go home to prepare our reunion dinner.

My brother's bringing back loads of stuff, so that leaves me with less cooking to do. It's going to be another night of feasting. My family takes reunion dinner very seriously and it's always a joyous occassion.

My dad is the most generous person in the house. All his kids, grandkids and domestic helpers will receive a red packet from him after dinner.

During midnight, mum will set a table outside the house laden with goodies and incense as offerings to the God of Heaven.

That's how we usher in the Chinese New Year.
