To sit or not to sit?

We walked out of the movie theatre, right back into the mall. The crowd was starting to grate on our nerves. Even looking for the toilet and a place for dinner proved to be quite a challenge. The most sensible thing to do was to get out of there, FAST!

Knowing how the boys love seafood, where else to go but Jumbo! By the time we arrived at the East Coast outlet, the entire restaurant, except for some outdoor seating, was full.

The sky was overcast and it was drizzling very lightly. There was a long waiting list and the manager was coaxing people to settle for the outdoor seats. Yet nobody wanted to take the risk.

We didn't need any coaxing. In fact, we were pleased to find a seat rightaway. She was so delighted that she offered us a 10% discount and free desserts. “I hope this will encourage other patrons to sit outside too.”

I replied in jest, “Then you’ve got to serve the food quickly so that we don’t have to eat in the rain!”

Soon, the tables started filling up. It’s good to know there were other risk takers like us. Some were adamant against sitting outside. Then there were those who asked the waitress to ‘guarantee’ against any downpour. The waitress winked at me, “How can I guarantee, right?”

Guess what? It didn’t rain after all. In fact, the sky cleared up and the cool sea breeze made the dinner really enjoyable! So it was a risk worth taking.

I know what you’re thinking. “What if it had rained?”

Well, we’d run indoors and forsake our food. Jumbo has such remarkable business acumen, they will not leave their patrons in the lurch. Anyway, it’s only dinner. Not worth kicking a fuss over.
