With 168 stalls selling yummilicious food, we were really spoilt for choice. But, let's not forget I was craving for crabs in the first place, so we must stay focused. Out of the 4 stalls selling crabs, we picked the one that was the busiest. Even then, we had to decide between chilli crab, black pepper crab or white pepper crab.
That was so difficult, CH suggested trying all! We finally settled for black pepper crab so that we could try other food. While crab was being cooked, we shared a plate of 'char kway teow' which is a sinful dish of noodles stir-fried with fresh cockles, bean sprouts, Chinese sausage, chilli and lots of sweet sticky black sauce. It's no wonder this stall is so famous because the noodles were cooked just right, wet and silky soft. Yum!
Char Kway Teow
The black pepper crab did not disappoint at all. Each piece was generously coated with a peppery black sauce that packs a punch! The piping hot chunks yielded tender, sweet and succulent meat with every bite. Oh, did I tell you how much I love crabs?
We washed everything down with cold, refreshing Harbin Beer. This is the first time we have seen this beer and since lots of people around us were drinking it, why not? It was not bad at all!

Oh, almost forgot to mention we had a glass of ice cold sugar cane drink and a bowl of ice kachang (shaved ice) for dessert. We're too greedy!

Hey Soul, cockle is a kind of shellfish. It is usually lightly cooked and looks kinda bloody. But since you like fishing...it's a really good bait!
