I was intrigued when my 8-year old nephew started talking about his pet tadpole over dinner last Saturday.
"Wow, you have a tadpole?" I asked, amused.
"I don't like it so much now that the legs are growing out." He said.
"Oh, you can bring it here and leave it in my pond if you like." I offered, trying to imagine a cute little black tadpole swimming happily in my lotus pond.
On Sunday evening, he skipped into the house excitedly carrying a little plastic tank. His 10-year old sister was walking far behind, squeamish, with her hands covering her eyes.
"Come on. What's the big deal?" I asked my niece. "It's just a tiny little tadpole!"
"Nah!" My nephew suddenly thrust the container into my hands, "Here's the tadpole."
Yikes! So huge! It's like 3 inches long! What kind of a tadpole is this? It's going to grow into a huge bullfrog! Please take it away from me!
