Instead of indulging in a nice hot meal on a drizzly Friday night, we went for a talk by Amy Lam, the first Singaporean Appalachian Trial thru-hiker. As she talked about the challenges of covering the trail, I was so inspired and filled with admiration for this little gutsy lady.
We bought a copy of her book, which is a diary written throughout her 127-day journey that's filled with useful notes and words of wisdom. It will certainly come in useful one day, when we're planning for our own hike along the Appalachian Trial. With Amy.
After the talk, we walked to Chinatown to check out the goodies on sale and to soak in the atmosphere. We ended up walking slowly along the crowded, rain-soaked alley, avoiding black puddles of water on the floor and umbrellas in the air.
