Comfort food

Have you ever eaten peanut brittle like this? It's so darn addictive, I'm sitting here slapping my hand because I can't stop reaching out for another one.

CH is having a stressful day at work. I don't quite know how to cheer him up except to cook his favourite food for dinner - Uncle Tan's braised pork ribs slowed cooked until the meat fall off the bone.

Yes. Comfort food to melt his troubles away.

For me, if I am stressed out, I have no appetite. Exercising seems to be my only comfort. CH rushing some deadlines?

Food in general is my comfort food! I never seem to loose my appetite and stress just makes me eat more!

I hope CH isn’t too stressed. I imagine he appreciates the tender meat, so tenderly cooked.

World - Itn't it funny how different people react to stress? I don't seem to lose my appetite when I'm stressed out too.

Amel - I know how you dislike nuts! But why? I love nuts, all kinds!

JY - There are various kinds of porridge. There's the really soft Cantonese type which I think you like. That I can't make. It's pretty tedious as it takes hours to boil using broken rice and chicken stock.

The one that I cook is more like soupy rice with the grains still intact but mixed with ingredients like fish, meat, tofu and vegetables.

I suppose porridge is always a comfort food for Asians especially when we're feeling under the weather. I usually cook when my kids are sick.
