Tough Lurve

Ah, the beer tastes so good, especially after my evening run. To think that I almost didn't get my butt out the door...

See, my mind was busy playing games with me. Listening to the noises in my head made my knees weak. "You've finished your chores, you should go running!" "But I feel so sluggish. I should stay home with a book." "You have a race coming up. I bet your friends are out training this very minute." "But the weather's so muggy. I feel like having a can of cold beer." "Trust me, the beer will taste better after the run." "But my legs are tired." "Then walk. Take it easy but at least get moving!" "Aw, okay..."

I'm glad I went and didn't, for one moment, regret that I was out there running. In fact, I'm grateful I listened to the good guy in my head. Sometimes you just need someone to push you out of the comfort zone.

Just like 8 years ago, I 'forced' my mum to go on a vacation in Europe with me. She had all her lame excuses lined up about why she shouldn't go. Well, she finally went and had the time of her life. She worked for the British Airforce when she was a young lady and knew all about the British landmarks and icons. Finally we spent a week in the UK watching musicals, visiting the Buckingham Palace and seeing the sights that she had heard so much of. She's glad I made her go. Now she has nothing but fond memories.

Sometimes my kids whine, "Can we don't go for tuition/to the party/that holiday..." and I have to put my foot down and say "No!" and guess what, they always end up enjoying themselves.

Having to push someone out of their comfort zone isn't the best job in the world but if we know it's good for them, then we just have to do it.

Now back to my beer and chips. I love this multigrain chips by Twisties called Lurve. It's made using wheat, oats, rice, corn and sunflower seeds. There's no preservative or artificial colouring. The hot & spicy flavour is my favourite and it goes so darn well with ice cold beer.

Like they say on the package, "They may burn a little. But trust us, it's better to have Lurve and lost than to never have Lurve at all."

Ugh, I need someone to push myself off to the gym, but the 12hour+ days I am working definitely just make me want to head home and read

Karen - I think it's ok lah. Beer is quite light and it's refreshing. I didn't drink it right after running. It was after my shower and laundry. Anyway, I didn't run very hard last night :-)
