Yes, I'm happy

So happy to be surrounded by friends and loved ones.

After reading "The science of being happy" in the papers this morning, I've been thinking about happiness all day. The experts are probably right when they say happiness has alot to do with one's natural temperament.

Though I went through a dark period in my life, I am still a very happy person. I even looked up my old albums for verification. It's probably in my genes. I'm sure my good relationship with friends and loved ones helps tremendously.... or maybe I have been cultivating happiness-boosting techniques unknowingly.

Whatever it is, I know I'm happy!

I think perspective is very important. If you are not living in a warzone, and you are healthy, have all four limbs and five senses, have enough to eat and a roof over your head, then you really have no reason to be negative. 6 billion ppl on the planet - there are plenty of others worse off.

And regarding the pics, you are always the one with the biggest smile. I think it's something to do with your eyes as well. :)

You're right. We're so much better off compared to other people, so there is no reason to be unhappy. So, I always have the biggest smile and tiniest crinkly eyes!

Bless you for being happy! We need more of you in the world. I'm giving you a gigantic HUG because seeing you smile made me happy for the rest of the day.

Keep smiling. Your smile is beautiful.

While I agree that there is always someone worse off than we may be, there are times when it is natural to feel down. I think the beauty of this life is in our ability as humans to focus on our blessings, and how that focus - some way, somehow - brings us back to that lighter, happier place.
