Farm life

The weekend whizzed by in a blur. Saturday, Singapore celebrated our national day with a grand parade and spectacular display of fireworks. CH was over for dinner on Saturday and we, in turn were over at his house for dinner on Sunday. His brother treated us to an elaborate dish of "Buddha Jump Over the Wall" which he took days to prepare. Thanks CK!

In between, our days were filled with little activities around the house. Life in the farm is always filled with excitement and animal sightings. We found a lost Husky in the neighbourhood and made friends with some other pooches.

My dad's friend left this dog behind for our workers to take care. It lives in our farm now.

We found this beautiful Husky wandering around the neighbourhood and quickly drove home to fetch her some food. We were not sure if she belongs to one of our neighbours but I didn't see her anymore after Saturday.

She gobbled up the dried pellets quickly but refused to eat the loaf of bread. When I tried giving it to her, she bit chunks of it and spat it out repeatedly. It was funny!

This Arapaima belongs to my neighbour. It's definitely more than 6ft long!

The beagle is my other neighbour's.

This is my dog Rusty....

...that killed a baby monitor lizard. Can you imagine this foot-long reptile was lounging behind our cupboard in the kitchen! It can grow into the size of a crocodile. Creepy!

Hi MH - This year's NDP was great as usual though it rained at the start of the parade. The days leading to National Day were a little low key compared to previous years. I guess after Beijing Olympics' spectacular opening, our parade simply pales in comparison...

Shello - Oh really? That's nice to know. Sadly, most girls here eschew the farm. They think fruits grow on supermarket shelves.

Nick - It's a really sinfully rich pot of ingredients like sea cucumber, abalone, scallops, mushroom, fish maw, sharks fins etc stewed in a rich broth.

That is one big fish.
And I don't like the sound of the reptile in the cupboard!
