Sneak preview

After a long wait, I finally laid my hands on the keys to the flat! This morning, I met with the painter and flooring guy to finalise some details. The painters are starting work tomorrow.

As the previous owner moved out 4 months ago, some of the plants in the patio that they had lovingly nurtured were already dying. Wielding my cutter, I pruned the shrubs, cut away the dead leaves and tossed out the dying plants. I fed them water and fertiliser too.

See the pile of dead leaves? I just starting to trim the plants when I realised that I should take some 'before' photos of the apartment for memory. Well, here's a sneak preview.

Partial view of the garden. I'm excited to develop this container garden. I'll be putting in more flowering plants and garden ornaments to liven up the patio.

See the planter box with dead plants? That'll be thrown out of course. That's YK's bedroom by the way.

A view of the living and dining area. All those hanging wooden things will have to go too. And the red lanterns! Gosh, Chinese New Year's over 7 months ago!

The previous owners are passionate about gardening and they've built a wooden boardwalk.

Our tiny kitchen.

The narrow hallway leading to the bedrooms. I see lots of potential with those white walls. Maybe I'll hang some photos from our travels.

YK's bedroom with a large window ledge. Too bad, the room is only big enough to fit a queen size bed and wardrobe. That's why I made some markings on the floor to see how best I can squeeze in a study table. There's still hope, if we can find a long and narrow one.

It's hard to shoot SK's room because the shape is a little odd. Sadly, his room doesn't look out to the garden like ours.

This is my bedroom. There's a big planter box just outside the window. I'll wake up to greenery every morning. Yay!

Heh, your profile photo lines up neatly with the planter box picture. They look like 2 shots of the same scene.

I agree with Nick, the place looks beautiful! I love all those cute plants :)

I can see that the floor is parque? is that very popular there? It looks wonderful but just asking out of curiosity. I would like to have parqué at home but it is not very popular here and therefore it is extremely expensive :(

Happy moving :)

Thanks everyone! Yah, we all look forward to moving in soon :-)

MH - I am thinking about that actually. Only trouble is, there are sbout 10 apartments above looking down at me sleeping on the lazy chair. They may throw something down or a bird may decide to poop on me. So, I need to get a huge umbrella now to protect myself.

Wen - Parquet is popular for the bedrooms but is also quite expensive here as it is solid wood. It create a warm and cosy look. I like the feel of wood. Given a choice, I prefer timber strips are nicer to look at but they're so expensive! That's why I have settled for wooden laminates for the living area.
