Shopping for rings

Thanks to the Singapore JewelFest, today's paper is splashed with diamonds and engagement rings. Luckily (for CH), diamond is not really my best friend.

My first diamond ring is of course the solitare engagement ring from eons ago. At that time, I was so not used to wearing a rock that I ended up with scratches all over my cheek. After a week, I chucked it into the drawer and it has never seen the light again.

I bought my next ring in Belgium, the world's largest centre of diamond trade and industry. How can I leave Belgium without a diamond ring? So I bought myself two. This time, I picked smaller diamonds set amongst pretty emerald and sapphire gemstones. They were gorgeous and great for daily wear yet they didn't stay on my fingers for long.

Whilst I like looking at rings, I guess I'm just not good at wearing them. They get in my way when I'm doing housework and gardening. Strangely, I only buy rings when I'm traveling. I've bought rings encrusted with lovely gems from an Israeli man in a beach hut in Thailand and a diamond necklace from a souk in Dubai. My last purchase was a sapphire ring from a jewelry shop in Sri Lanka.

I've acquired these pretty things yet I'm wearing none today. Sometimes I even wonder where I've placed them.

I don't wear rings too. Not even my wedding band. They prove to be a hindrance when I workout so I just did away with them.

Hey, I took your advice and told myself to blog more! So pop by more and support me ok?!.. My blog no longer has visitors because the owner was getting lazy :-)

Happy Weekend!

Same here, i love to wear rings & collect them before marriage.

Now, i only wear my wedding band & nothing else... & i think going forward, i might not wear it coz Claire will attempt to take it from my finger.

i'm like you-- love to look at em.. and even put em on and take em off-- but i can't really even wear rings, so i don't even have many.
even my wedding band is on a chain on my neck-- but i still on occasion find myself buying a ring now and then-- just cuz i like it :))
still, knowing it'll just sit in the box and be lonely.

happy weekend-

I'm not a ring person myself. The last time I wore a ring, I got it stuck in a piece of nail and it ripped out a good chunk of my flesh ...

They say diamonds are a girls best friend, but I prefer my turquoise one!

I fell in love with a diamond ring when I was in Indo and that was the first (and so far the only one) I've ever bought. I wore it daily when I was in Indo 'coz I worked from home and I rarely do any gardening (no need to take it on and off). Now that I live in a wintry country, I don't wear it anymore 'coz I wear gloves a lot and it just doesn't feel nice to wear a diamond ring and gloves, even though the diamond isn't that big.

However, I keep it as an investment. My Mom was the one who encouraged me to buy it (when she found out I fell in love with it despite the fact that it was rather expensive). She said I could always sell it later if I need cash fast - so that I don't need to borrow money from anyone else.

I don't wear my wedding band anymore 'coz my skin grew sensitive here when I wore my gloves (my hands get sweaty a lot, so a rash developed after a while), so I put my wedding band on a necklace as a pendant, near my heart...it's pretty practical that way - when I wash the dishes I don't need to take my ring off. :-))))
