We had two fabulous desserts tonight - Alphonso mangoes and lemon tart.
When I saw this blogger raving about the exquisite Alphonso mango, I knew I had to grab a box before the season is over. Indeed, this is just about the best mango we have tasted. The flesh is sweet, smooth and rich, we polished off 10 in one day.

YK baked a lemon tart after dinner, so we had another round of dessert. The tangy lemon custard tastes so good with the buttery and crumbly crust.
Yum!

Ya, now is the season for these mangoes. Previously when i was working for H shipping line, the agents in India will send 1 box of such mangoes to all the managers in the office!
We the lucky ones will get to eat them! These are the best mangoes!! But they cant keep for long!
Alphonso? I have never heard of it.
The pie sure looked good :)
I wonder how that mango will taste in a pie...
Kaye - You can get them from Mustaffa!
MH - I've heard Albert raving about it years ago but never paid any attention. They are good. If you see them in Oregon, buy a couple to try for yourself. Apparently it is so popular, CHL has a dedicated Alphonso mango delivery service worldwide.
CH - I bet the pie will taste even better if we top it with fresh mango. Not baked mango cos it turns mushy and disgusting.
Oh wow! I oogle at the pie YK made! Recipe! recipe!
As for mangoes, b careful: one well-known columnist in the Suntimes ate 8 mangoes (not sure wot variety) at one go and was sick enough to be hospitalised, or so i hear!!
