Camping at Ubin

CH went camping at Pulau Ubin, a little offshore island, with his friend yesterday. We've gone camping on this rustic island a couple of times before. It's a great getaway for the weekend.

While other anglers were hauling up stingrays and other fishes, Chris managed to catch an eel.

Even the heron had better luck than him.

They spotted several wild boars while walking to the beach campsite.

Ah Pulau Ubin, I miss cycling around that island actually, but of course I miss the seafood lunch after cycling MORE :)

Some of the anglers have a fire going in front of their camps and they cook their catch right out of the sea. How's that for fresh seafood?

Amel - It's fun but you'll end up getting stung by mosquitoes all night!

MH - We usually walk when we're there. Too many cyclists these days. Recently this woman fell off her bike and died from head injuries. Apparently there are some dangerous turns people are not aware of.

Funny I have't tried seafood there before. When you return to Singapore, we go Ubin together ok?

CH - Oh really? You could have had freshly grilled eel!

What a weird looking one claw crab.

Nick, the Chinese call this a Thunder Crab. So called because if one grabs you, it will only let go at the sound of thunder.

It's also called a stone crab.

Pray for thunder if that crab grabs you!
