Smell the roses

It's 8am and I'm sitting in the patio with my morning cuppa and today's papers. The sun is rising, the flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and an easy breeze is moving through the terrace.

It's a lovely morning. Now, don't envy me because such mornings do not come by very often. I'm at work at 7am on weekdays except today. We were on the way to school early this morning when YK received a message that his practical exam starts at 9am today. So here we are, back home again.

While he's glued to his laptop, I'm also taking the opportunity to check my emails and scan through the headlines. Nothing too exciting except the realisation that the 7 leading religious bodies here earn more than S$10 million yearly. That's an amazing income!

I read another amazing but inspirational story about Michael Phelps. According to his mum, he grew up as a hyperactive child. Many teachers wrote him off as a middling student who can't sit still, can't keep quiet and can't focus on anything. Look who's talking now?!

Oh well, never judge a book by its cover I say! Now, just because I am out here in the patio doesn't mean I'm not working eh. Let me go back to smelling the flowers...

That is such a wonderful and serene scene that I feel like heading home right now and sitting in my garden. well, if you can call that small patch of land a garden, that is ... LOL!

Oh .. How I was I have the luxury of working facing nature like this!

BTW... Is that an IBM Thinkpad? It looks exactly the same as the notebook I am using from my company.

That's it, I'm starting up my own religion... Wanna join? Just $10,000 for initiates...

Nick - Yes, it is very serene in the morning but I must block out the sound of bell rings coming from the school close by. We're lucky because the patio is mostly shady.

Water - Yes, it is a Thinkpad. I've been using it for many years and it's a real workhorse. Very solid but that also means it is very heavy. Too heavy to bring on my travels!

CH - Haha, if only it's so easy but gosh, I always thought they do this job out of love and charity!

That is such a sweet working environment. That patio is awesome - well worth the money and effort to put it in place!

Regarding religious leaders earning that kind of salary. There's something not quite right about that.

Mooiness - I agree wholeheartedly with you on both counts. I'm sure the money could be put to better use.

Earning 10 millions a year?

WOW!

Why do I gotta do to earn that much of money? Having a red lantern in front of the house is not enough obviously! :)

MH - You've got to start preaching to the right people my friend!

That's really nice...smelling the flowers and feeling the breeze while working.

And Michael Phelps used to be considered like that? INTERESTING info!!! :-))))

Amel - Yup. Michael Phelps was once a kid who bounced around with too much energy. That energy is making him rich and famous today!

Sorry folks, I read the article again and found that the income was what the religious bodies received. Not the leaders. The headline was written in such a way that I misread it completely. Of of the churches receives over $40m yearly which is a huge amount!
