Lunch

This is today's lunch - a slice of banana sponge topped with crushed walnuts. I usually have a really light lunch of oatmeal or some plain crackers. It's simply not my habit to eat a heavy meal during lunch.
.
The only proper meal I have is dinner where I get my protein, carbo and fibre all in one sitting. This diet works for me and keeps my weight in check. If I were to eat a little bit more, my weight will start piling up, leaving me feeling lethargic and heavy.
.
I hardly snack but I do envy people with a high metabolic rate who can eat without a care in the world.
.
I'm a strong advocate of eating only when the body needs it. I find the concept of eating lunch just because it is lunch time, whether one is hungry or not, rather amusing. And I wish I could have desserts rather than real meals.
.
Then again, that's just me. From someone who used to live to eat, I'm turning into one who eats to live. Oh dear, I'm really getting old.

LOL! I don't think you're getting any longer than I have white hair. I guess our eating habits change as we age. I used to love sweet stuff now I can't stand the taste of them. So no such things like chocolates and stuff like that for me.

You lunch looked way healthier than what I had this afternoon. I popped by home and friend some bacon with scramble eggs and made myself an oily sandwich for lunch ... got to find ways to burn that out soon :D Nothing like a good run I guess ...

Our habits change as we age. That's true. I suddenly find myself lactose intolerant too and have stopped drinking cafe latte at coffee joints.

It's ok for you to indulge occasionally especially after you've been eating salad for months! I was craving for something savoury today but that craving went away after I browsed around the supermarket. I think cravings can be satisfied visually you know?

That pic looks SO delicious that I want to bake one myself he he he...

I'm at the stage where I can control myself somewhat, but I DO love my food hi hi hi hi hi...and I have to eat three small meals a day. I still snack sometimes during the night, but these days I prefer fruit or yoghurt. I try to avoid my fave snack like ice-cream and chips and popcorn, though sometimes I give in hi hi hi hi hi...

I used to eat heavy meals at around 10-11 pm during my teenage years and it really affected my weight.

Amel - I'm sure this banana cake is easy for you to make! It's surprisingly light. I think they used vegetable oil instead of butter or magarine.

I remember reading in your blog about snacking in the past. I think you've adopted more healthy eating habits too! You'll never find me snacking after 10pm cos I'll be in bed by then!

I am different. For me lunch tends to be the heaviest meal of the day. Else when I run or go for gym lessons in the evenings, I would be all wobbly :-).

Dinners tend to be light. But I am fond of making some desserts like lotus seeds with tao gee or green bean soup with Chin Chao. I find such self cook desserts healthy and economical.

Water - I guess it's down to one's habit and lifestyle. If you go to the gym in the evening, you need that fuel.

My kids like gingko nut with taukee very much.Green bean with chin chow sounds interesting! Never heard before. I like desserts like these too. I prefer eating these for meals if I can get away with it.

Ting,

We found Green bean + Barley + Sago + ChinChow by accident. Add the ChinChow only after the mixture is cooked and cooled. This is best eaten chilled. Try it! My husband never liked green bean. But after eating that, we have been cooking this nearly every week.

Water - I will try it. I often cook green bean with barley.I would like to use sago but not sure when to add etc.

I've always had a large appetite, but I have to be careful what I eat now as I only have to LOOK at food and the weight piles on!

I like the look and sound of the banana cake.
