We did it!

We did it! We did our 21km run this morning which started at 6.15am. It was a grueling run compared to the practice run that we did a month ago at the much flatter and shady park. We commenced at the Esplanade and ran through the financial district, into Marina South Park, then down the Nicoll Highway and back to the Padang.

By the time we came to the 15km point, my legs were so tired and threatening to cramp up, I was grimacing with every step. It didn't help that the sun was already beating down on us at some stretches along Nicoll Highway.

The good news is we finished the race with pretty decent timing. My aunt completed her first marathon (42km) today, in good timing too. Well done!

Showing off our finisher's medal.

Yup, happy to finish!

Runners hanging around at the Padang after the run. The Padang, an open field located at the heart of Singapore's central business district, surrounded by several important landmarks, which include the old and new Supreme Court Buildings in the background.

In the background is the Singapore Recreation Club building and Swissotel The Stamford, the tallest hotel in Singapore.

The white pointed building in the background is Saint Andrew's Cathedral.

We had to walk along North Bridge Road to get to our car. We went past The National Library where an interesting exhibit is on display at the foyer.

Taking a closer look. That's how our legs felt this morning.

Just across the library is Bugis Junction which is an integrated development comprising an office tower, shopping mall and InterContinental Singapore.

Conserved shophouses.

Hey BT, congrats on completing the run. I know the feeling and it feels pretty good doesn't :) So, when you gonna try your full marathon?

Under 3 hrs... not great but not too bad for a couple of on-again, off-again joggers :-)

Nick, after yesterday we said probably won't do the full event. Of course, we said that about the half marathon 2 years ago too...
