My dog's life

I like waking up early in the morning on a weekday so that I have plenty of time to potter around before I get ready for work. Now that SK's school starts at 8.15am on Wednesdays and Fridays, I don't have to scramble about doing laundry (put clothes in washer and then hang out to dry), making breakfast for SK and Rusty, watering the plants, walking Rusty and getting dressed for work. I have to do all that within 45 minutes every morning!

When I woke up at 6am this morning, Rusty was still in (my) bed. In fact, he moved over to sleep on my warm space. Look at him!

I made myself a sandwich and cup of coffee, checked my emails and read a couple of blogs, followed by a mad rush to complete the rest of my morning chores.

These days, I tend to get into a tussle with Rusty during his walks. He can be rather strong willed and would resist going in the direction I want him to go (which is towards home). I can't blame him because I have only 15 minutes whereas he wants an hour. I usually end up tugging his leash or carrying him home.

This morning, he got upset and took it out on an innocent cat that got in his way. He has learned to be very tolerant towards the many cats downstairs but because he was in a bad mood today, he kept lunging at the cat. I had to drag him home.

Naturally the sulky dog refused his breakfast, walked right to my room, jumped back into my bed and curled up into a ball. He must be thinking, "It sucks to be a dog!"
