Zzzzzzzzzz

The sleepy bug has descended upon me again. I sit here at work, struggling to stay awake. When I get home in the evenings, I plonk myself on my bed and fall into deep slumber for some 30 minutes before mustering enough strength to make dinner.

I don't believe I am sleep deprived. I am not overweight and I get enough exercise walking Rusty round the neighbourhood twice a day. I have eliminated white bread from my diet and is eating only natural food like pumpkin and sweet potato for breakfast. I don't eat junk food or fatty stuff but why am I living in a daze? Lately it has gotten worse.

When I feel sleepy, I think of my friend Frances. I was surprised to discover that she is allergic to wheat when we were having lunch in Germany. Anything she eats that's made using wheat flour like pasta, cakes, bread and cookies will turn her life upside down. She will sleep for 2 days and feel bloated and sick for a week. She hasn't eaten anything made using flour for more than 10 years now.

Funny she does not miss cakes and cookies. "I can still eat chocolate!" she declares merrily. The only cake she can eat is the moussy kind made without flour. Asian food works for her because she loves rice. Too bad she lives in Orlando.

She is a picture of health. Slim, attractive and athletic, she runs and roller blades and doesn't suffer from this sleepy disease anymore.

Maybe I should eat more chocolate.

Why not try introducing more fruits into your diet, esp during mid mornings? It works for me. Some light meditations do wonders too...

i hope (or may) i'm wrong, but it could be signs of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. hits women more than men, and as young as 35 years old. one can feel more and more drained till an eventual illness takes them away. early symptoms are about 80% difficult to detect till well into the mid stage.

me 2 cents worth. =)

It's not much fun when you feel tired all the time. As Huier said, fruit would be a good idea. Perhaps you could go for a blood test to see if you are missing anything essential? That's how I found out about my B12 deficiency. Apparently my body wasn't storing it so I had to have my injections to kick start my body into action. Now I lead a very B12 conscious life and I feel so much better for it!

JY - Not a bug because it has happened to me before. It's so hot here and probably too cold there. We should mix both weathers together to create a balanced one!

Fry - Yah, I had always suspected that and googled about it. That's why I adjusted my diet cos I suspect it has something to do with food intolerance too.

World - Thanks, glad you're better now. I did my blood test last year which didn't reveal any deficiencies. I'll make some new adjustment to my diet and see how it goes. I realise that when I'm out and about, I'm ok. It's only when I'm sitting down at my desk that I drift off to sleep.Maybe it is just too boring at work :-)

Amel - I don't think it is PMS. It's my body's reaction to carbo, I think.
